Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (9/26/2011 to 9/30/2011)
Monday 9/26
Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: In today’s class we will be going over the Drill press. I will give the students an in-depth presentation of this machine and all the safety instructions needed to safely operate this machine. My objective for students is to fully understand how to safely use this machine.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: In today’s class we will be going over the Drill press. I will give the students an in-depth presentation of this machine and all the safety instructions needed to safely operate this machine. My objective for students is to fully understand how to safely use this machine.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: In plastics I will be giving a demonstration on gluing Acrylic together and pressing under high pressure. This will be for our Salt and Pepper Shaker project. Students will be using two colors of Acrylic. They will all receive 10 pieces of each color 2” X 4”, and a press box.
Tuesday 9/27 ( I will be out of school on this Day)
Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be taking the test on the Band Saw and the Drill press. Students who are done early will have study time.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be taking the test on the Band Saw and the Drill press. Students who are done early will have study time.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Have students read Chapter 20 page 208 in the Industrial arts Plastics book and have students do the 13 questions at the end of the chapter on page 227
WENDNESDAY 9/28
Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: I will be giving a demonstration on the Disc and belt sander and the Vertical Oscillating Sander. They must have a full understanding of these machines. Any students who need to make up any test will do so provide enough time is left in the class period.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: I will be giving a demonstration on the Disc and belt sander and the Vertical Oscillating Sander. They must have a full understanding of these machines. Any students who need to make up any test will do so provide enough time is left in the class period.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will peel all the protective paper from all Acrylic piece and start to stack the in the press box and apply glue between each piece of Acrylic and then we will place them in the Vice to apply pressure.
Thursday 9/29
Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: I will be showing a safety video on the use of the Power miter saw from You Tube. I will be giving a full in-depth demonstration of the Power miter saw. This will take the entire length of the class.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: I will be showing a safety video on the use of the Power miter saw from You Tube. I will be giving a full in-depth demonstration of the Power miter saw. This will take the entire length of the class.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will continue with the process for any students that did not get to the pressing process on Wednesday Other students will remove the acyclic cube from the press box.
Friday 9/30

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will continue with the press and removal of cubes from the press box. I will be giving a demonstration on the the first step of cutting the cube to the exact size.

Objectives; Wood shop-To have students fully understand process of how to use different types of measuring devices and how to measure accurately. Students will also learn safe and acceptable procedure for the shop.

Assessments; Will be done by Question and Answers and Quiz.

Monday 9/19

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be given a demonstration on the safe and proper use of the Planer. We will talk about all safety procedures that must be followed in order for the students to safely use the Planner. They will learn all parts and there specific purpose. This will take the entire period.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be given a demonstration on the safe and proper use of the Planer. We will talk about all safety procedures that must be followed in order for the students to safely use the Planner. They will learn all parts and there specific purpose. This will take the entire period.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will be talking about heat forming Acrylic. I will be giving a demonstration on using the strip heater we will be making a self standing 4” X 6” clear acrylic picture frame. We will be using 1/16” sheeting. Each student will make one 4” X 6” frame.
Tuesday 9/20

We will talk about all safety procedures that must be followed in order for the students to safely use the Jointer. They will learn all parts and there specific purpose. This will take the entire period.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be given a demonstration on the safe and proper use of the Jointer. We will talk about all safety procedures that must be followed in order for the students to safely use the Jointer. They will learn all parts and there specific purpose. This will take the entire period.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will be returning to the Blow molding machine To make a 10” Serving tray. Due to a mold malfunction we had to go to the picture frame project but I was able to repair the mold.
WENDNESDAY 9/21

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be taking a Safety test on the Planer and the Jointer. The test will consist of True False questions and a parts identification section. They will be provided a Word back for each test. All students must pass these safety tests before they may use the equipment.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be taking a Safety test on the Planer and the Jointer. The test will consist of True False questions and a parts identification section. Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Today I am going to be showing the class how large signs and many other products are made by industries today by using the Vacuum method. We will be use YOU TUBE for this.

We will talk about all safety procedures that must be followed in order for the students to safely use the Jointer. They will learn all parts and there specific purpose. This will take the entire period.

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Today I will be giving a demonstration on Vacuum Molding using the same machine that we used for our blow molding projects. This demonstration will take the entire period.
Friday 9/23

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will be preparing are plastic the Vacuum molding project. And students will start with project. It will take two days for students to finish this project.
