LESSON PLAN Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (1-21-2012 to 1-25-2012) Monday 1/21/12 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st pd. Students will be making the mold holding boards. Students will be working on the wood picture frame project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood : Students will be sanding and finishing any routering that needs to be done. Students must make sure that the dial board fits into the side boards without pushing too hard. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. Some students are finishing their first projects and will be choosing their next project. Tuesday 1/22 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st. Pd. will be finish removing chess pieces and preparing molds to be poured. 7th. Pd will be finishing the coin purse project and the picture frame project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will be finishing sanding and we will start to assemble. It will be done in steps because we will be using two different air nail guns. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working and I will be going around and helping as needed. WEDNESDAY 1/23 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st pd. will be pouring the molds today. They will be able to choose there color of dye. I will be giving a demonstration on the clip board project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will continue with assembly of the clocks. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on individual projects and I will assist students when assistance is needed. Thursday 1/24 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st pd. will continue with pouring process for students who did not get to pour on Wednesday. Students will let the poured chess pieces in the molds for at least two days. 7th pd. will be starting their clip board projects Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will continue with the assembly of the clocks. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. I will be going around and checking on progress. 7th Friday 1/25 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st pd. will be removing poured chess pieces from molds. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will finish assemble the clock project. Students will be using the air gun to assemble the clock. Strict safety procedures must be followed. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on individual projects. FOR ALL PERIODS: PA. Standards (Science & Technology); 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.2, 3.4, 3.6 Objectives; Wood shop-To have students fully understand process of how to use different types of measuring devices and how to measure accurately. Students will also learn safe and acceptable procedure for the shop. Plastics- To have students fully understand process of how to use different types of measuring devices and how to measure accurately. LESSON PLAN Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (1-14-2012 to 1-18-2012) Monday 1/14/12 Mid Term Day Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood : Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Tuesday 1/15 Mid Term Day Will Follow Two Hour Delay Schedule Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Students in 1st. will put last coat of material on chess pieces. 7th pd will coat picture with thick coating material. This is 4.5” by 4.5” block of wood that will become a picture frame. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will be Sanding all project pieces and using the rotor table on certain Pieces. I will set up the table saw with the dado blade so we can cut the dados in the side pieces. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working and I will be going around and helping as needed. WEDNESDAY 1/16 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will continue to work on the clock parts. I will give a demonstration on how to router edges of parts of the clock. Students will start to sand all parts and prepare to assemble the clock. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on individual projects and I will assist students when assistance is needed. Thursday 1/17 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st pd. will be removing the chess pieces from molds. They must take their time in order not to damage the molds. Seventh pd. will continue with the dip project. Everyone must do at least one dip project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will continue with the dado cuts and Sanding. All router work should be done. I will stress the importance of hand sanding all end grain edges. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. I will be going around and checking on progress. 7th Friday 1/18 MIDTERMS Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st will continue with removal of chess pieces from molds. 7th period will continue with coin case project. 7th pd will be working on the coin case project. I will assign six students to do the dipping process. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will start to assemble the clock project. Students will be using the air gun to assemble the clock. Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (1-2-2012 to 1-4-2012) Monday 12/31/12 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Students will be doing their writing prompt on Why Recycle Plastic. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood : Students will be working on the clock project. They will be routering out the area on the dial board for the clock movement. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. Some students are assembling and some students will be starting to stain projects. I will continue to demonstrate new procedures as they are needed. Tuesday 1/1 I Will Be Out Of School This Day Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Students will have work to do. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will have work to do. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will have work to do. WEDNESDAY 1/2 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Students in the 1st pd. will continue with the chess set project they will be putting on the last coats of latex on chess pieces. LESSON PLAN Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (1-2-2012 to 1-4-2012) Monday 12/31/12 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood : Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Tuesday 1/1 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: WEDNESDAY 1/2 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st pd. will be applying coatings of latex to the chess pieces. They will do this for two more days. I will give a demonstration on the coin purse project so when students are done coating they can start this project. 7th. Pd. I will be giving the demonstration on the change purse project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: I will give a quick review of all shop procedures do to the Christmas break to refresh their memories. We will be starting the clock project and we will be starting to plane lumber down to size. This will take approximately two days to do. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. I will be going around and checking on progress. I will give a quick review of all shop procedures do to the Christmas break to refresh their memories. Thursday 1/3 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st. pd. will continue with coating. 7th pd. will be doing the coin purse projects. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will continue planning lumber down and will start to rough cut to size. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. I will continue to help students as needed. If any new procedures would arise to. I will stop work and perform demonstrations as needed. Friday 1/4 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st pd. will start to peel out the chess pieces. 7th pd. will continue with the coin purse project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will continue to rough cut project pieces to a rough dimension size. When all students have all parts we will then start to cut parts to finish size. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. FOR ALL PERIODS: PA.
