LESSON PLAN
Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (1/30/2012-2/3/2012)
Monday 1/30

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be picking individual projects out when they are done with their final coat of clear coat.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on the individual projects.

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will continue to work on chess sets and some students will be working on the coin case projects.
Tuesday 1/31

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: We will be going over how to figure out the cost of their individual projects. They will be learning the formula on figuring out the board footage.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on the individual projects.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will be pouring whatever pieces they are missing. I will be giving a demonstration on layout of the chess board.
WENDNESDAY 2/1

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be figuring out the cost on their own. I will be going around and checking their math. Some will be much easier than others.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on the individual projects.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will be laying out chess board. I will then show students how to cut out the needed pieces and then how to sand blast the desired spots.
Thursday 2/2

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: We will be choosing the type of wood that the students will be using. They will choose from Red Oak. Poplar and white pine.

Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on the individual projects.

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will be working on the chess boards.
Friday 2/3

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: We will be planning wood down as a group.

Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on the individual projects.

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will be coating all chess pieces with clear coat so they are not sticky.

Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (1/23/2012-1/27/2012)
Monday 1/23

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be finishing the assembly of the projects. I will be giving a demonstration on staining the clock. Students may start to stain if time will allow. I would like students to start staining and be able for students to finish it.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Three students will be starting new projects. Two students will be starting to top part of the gun cabinets. One student is will be working on making the trim work for his blanket chest
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students in the 2nd. Pd. class will continue to pore their second set of chess pieces. Students in the 3rd. pd. class will finish coating pieces and some students will be pouring their first set.
Tuesday 1/24

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be staining their clocks. This will take approximately two days to stain everyone’s clocks.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on individual projects. Some students will be choosing what type of wood would be the best type of wood for what they are building. Other students will be choosing what to build while other students will continue their work on their present projects.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will continue to work on the chess set projects.
WENDNESDAY 1/25

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: I will give a demonstration on clear coating of the clocks we will be using a oil base clear coat. Students will choose either a gloss finish or a Semi- gloss. They must apply three coats. They must allow 24 hours between coats.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on projects. Students who are starting new projects will be figuring out the cost of the project and they will be able to see the different cost between different kinds of wood.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will continue to work on the chess set projects.
Thursday 1/26

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be clear coating.

Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on individual projects.

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will be choosing the color of the acrylic they will be using to do their boards, And we will be cutting them to size. I will give a demonstration on how to lay out the pattern and how to cut the lines in the boards.
Friday 1/27 Act 80 Half Day

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be clear coating.

Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on individual projects.

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: I will continue with the demonstration of making the boards.

Monday 1/16 No School

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology:
Tuesday 1/17

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: all students will be finishing any routering that still needs to be done. We will start to assemble the main frame of the clock using the air nail gun. We will then be adding the base. The top will be pre drilled and counter sunk.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on individual projects. Three students are done with their first projects and will be starting their second projects.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will continue to do coating while some students will be removing chess pieces from molds. Others will do doing the change purse project.
WENDNESDAY 1/18

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: We will be temporarily fastening the top so we know exactly where it will be positioned. We will be cutting the acrylic for the front. Students will be filling holes on sides with putty.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue with individual projects. Demonstrations will be given as needed on processes not yet discussed in class as they arise.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Today’s lesson will be the same as Tuesday but some students will be pouring there first set.
Thursday 1/19

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will be sanding wood putty and then I will give a demonstration on staining the clock. Students will then start to sand.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue working on individual projects. I will continue to go from student to student to help with different things with their projects.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will continue to work on the chess sets and some will be doing the coin purse projects.
Friday 1/20

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will continue with sanding. Most students will be finished staining today.

Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will continue to work on projects.

Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will continue to work on the chess sets and some will be doing the coin purse projects. Some students will be removing their first poured set from molds. I would like to let poured molds set for at least two days.
