LESSON PLAN
Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop) weekly lesson plans (9/27/10 - 10/1 /10)5th week
Monday 9/27

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will be working on the Laminated plastic key chain project. Students will sand all edges on belt sander then use hand sand Paper. Students will then buff the edges.

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working : We will start first project by selecting the boards to make the bench. We will then start to plane lumber down.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: We will start first project by selecting the boards to make the bench. We will then start to plane lumber down. Advanced students will be choosing projects and working on plans and the plan the steps they need to follow.
TUESDAY 9/28

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will continue with key chain project. I will give a demo on drilling and adding the key holder.

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: We will finish up the planning of wood. We will then cut into individual pieces for each student.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: We will finish up the planning of wood. We will then cut into individual pieces for each student.
WENDNESDAY 9/29

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will finish up key chain project.

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Students will follow my lead as we go through the steps to prepare the wood into separate pieces of wood.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will follow my lead as we go through the steps to prepare the wood into separate pieces of wood.
THURSDAY 9/30

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: I will give a demonstration on the start of our next project which will be the clip board. We will be using acrylic glass and Resin to create this project. We will add a picture between the acrylic and resin.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: We will cut the angle cut to the top and bottom of the bench ends.

Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: We will cut the angle cut to the top and bottom of the bench ends. Advanced students will be starting projects.
FRIDAY 10/1

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will start project by cutting acrylic and sanding the edges.

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Will give students a demonstration on pattern layout and then how to cut the ends out on the band saw.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Will give students a demonstration on pattern layout and then how to cut the ends out on the band saw.

PA. Standards (Science & Technology); 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.2, 3.4, 3.6
Objectives; Wood shop-To have students fully understand the safe and proper use of all power equipment in the shop.
Plastics- To give students an understanding of how signs are engraved, and how plastic can be heated and shaped
Assessments; Will be done by Question and Answers and Quiz.

Monday 9/13

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: We will begin first project. I will give demonstration on layout and cutting of plastic to make refrigerator magnetic photo frame We will sand all edges with 280 grit and 600 grit.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working : Will give students 5 minutes to look over study sheet and then will give the quiz on the Circular saw and the Radial Arm Saw. If time allows we will start to go over the Band Saw.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Will give students 5 minutes to look over study sheet and then will give the quiz on the Circular Saw and the Radial arm Saw. If time allows we will start to go over the Band Saw.
TUESDAY 9/14

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: I will give a demonstration on buffing the edges to make the edges clear. I will then demonstrate how to heat the plastic using the rod heater. We will then bend over to form the picture holder.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Will give demonstration on the Band Saw. If time allows we will move on to the Drill Press.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Will give demonstration on the Band Saw. If time allows we will move on to the Drill Press.
WENDNESDAY 9/15

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will finish up the small picture frame. Will give Demo on making a standalone clear frame for a 3.5 x 5 picture holder.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Will finish the demonstration on the drill press. Will give demonstration on the Disc and Belt Sander.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Will finish the demonstration on the drill press. Will give demonstration on the Disc and Belt Sander.
THURSDAY 9/16

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will work on frame project. Students may take home when done with project

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Will give students 5 minutes to look the Band Saw on Drill Press study guides and then will give the test. They will have the rest of the period to complete the test.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Will give students 5 minutes to look the Band Saw on Drill Press study guides and then will give the test. They will have the rest of the period to complete the test.
FRIDAY 9/17

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Will give demo on Dice project . Students will cut a one inch cube from long strips of 1” thick acrylic. Students use radial arm saw. Will demo the sanding process which starts with the disc sander and then hand sand paper.

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Will give demonstration on using the Power miter saw.

Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Will give demonstration on using the Power miter saw.

LESSON PLAN
Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop) 3rd week of school (9/13/2010-9/17/2010)
Monday 9/13/10

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will start going over power equipment in the shop. We will be starting with the Planer and the Jointer. All students will receive a packet with all the equipment of the shop they will be working with.
Pd.4,5 Plastics: Students will continue with the sanding of the edges of the piece of acrylic they received Friday. They will then buff the edges the same as the demonstration.
Pd.7 Advanced Cabinet Making: We will start going over power equipment in the shop. We will be starting with the Planer and the Jointer. All students will receive a packet with all the equipment of the shop they will be working with.
TUESDAY 9/14/10

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will continue with the demonstrations of the Planer and Jointer.

Pd.4,5 Plastics: I will give a demonstration on marking the acrylic and then demo how we will heat it so that it can be folded over to make a small picture frame.
Pd.7 Advanced Cabinet Making: We will continue with the demonstrations of the Planer and Jointer.

WENDNESDAY 9/15/10

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will be given a quiz on both pieces of equipment. It will be True and False and part identification.
Pd.4,5 Plastics: We will cut magnetic stripping and adhere it to the back of frame so it can me hung on the refrigerator.

Pd.7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will be given a quiz on both pieces of equipment. It will be True and False and part identification.
THURSDAY 9/16/10

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: I will give a demonstration on the Table saw. This will take most of the period.

Pd.4,5 Plastics: We will cut out the acrylic for the next size picture frame and perform the sanding and buffing operations.
Pd.7 Advanced Cabinet Making: I will give a demonstration on the Table saw. This will take most of the period.

FRIDAY 9/17/10

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will be given a quiz on the Table Saw. When everyone is done I will give a demonstration on the Radial Arm saw.
Pd.4,5 Plastics: I will give a demonstration on heating and bending of acrylic in two positions so it can stand on its own.

Pd.7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will be given a quiz on the Table Saw. When everyone is done I will give a demonstration on the Radial Arm saw.
FOR ALL PERIODS:
PA. Standards (Science & Technology); 13.1.5, 13.1.8, 13.1.11, 13.2.8, 13.2.11, 13.3.5, 13.3.8,13.4.5, 13.4.8, 13.4.11
Objectives; Wood shop- To give the students a full understanding the importance of how to use machines in a safe way to produce a project that can be used every day life
Plastics- To give students an understanding of how industry produces products made of plastic that we use every day.
Assessments; Will be done by class performance and by project evaluation.
