LESSON PLAN
Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop) weekly lesson plans (11/8/10 - 11/12 /10)11th week
Monday 11/8/10
Pd. 4,5 Plastics: We will be starting the casting project. I will be giving a demonstration on how we will be making the molds for the chess pieces that we will be making. We will be using Latex mold builder.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working : Some students will be finishing the sanding and routering and some will be assembling the shelf. We will be using 1 ½” finish nails glue and hammers.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Some students will be finishing the sanding and routering and some will be assembling the shelf. We will be using 1 ½” finish nails glue and hammers.
TUESDAY 11/9/10

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: We will continue with the mold building process.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Students will continue with shelf assembly. Will give demonstration on how to drill and apply the three pegs to the shelf
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will continue with shelf assembly. Will give demonstration on how to drill and apply the three pegs to the shelf. Advanced students will continue with advanced projects.
WENDNESDAY 11/10/10

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Will continue with mold project.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Students will continue with shelf assembly. Will give demonstration on how to drill and apply the three pegs to the shelf
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will continue with shelf assembly. Will give demonstration on how to drill and apply the three pegs to the shelf. Advanced students will continue with advanced projects.
THURSDAY 11/11/10

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will peel Latex molds off the forms.

Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Students will sand putty off nail holes and prepare for staining. Some students will start to stain.
Pd.7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will sand putty off nail holes and prepare for staining. Some students will start to stain.
FRIDAY 11/12/10

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Some students may still be removing the forms from the molds. Will give demonstration on mixing and poring the molds.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Will give a demonstration on the wood lathe. All students will be required to make a project on the lathe.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Will give a demonstration on the wood lathe. All students will be required to make a project on the lathe.
FOR ALL PERIODS:
PA. Standards (Science & Technology); 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.2, 3.4, 3.6
Objectives; Wood shop-To have students fully understand the safe and proper use of all power equipment in the shop.
Plastics- To give students an understanding of how signs are engraved, and how plastic can be heated and shaped
Assessments; Will be done by Question and Answers and Quiz.

Monday 11/1/10
Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Some students are finish the candy dish made by the blow mold method. This is the last day we will be working on this project.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working : Students will start to cut parts for the shelf. They will cut the back first then the tops. Students will then cut one piece to use for the self supports.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will start to cut parts for the shelf. They will cut the back first then the tops. Students will then cut one piece to use for the self supports. Advanced students will continue work on their projects.
TUESDAY 11/2/10

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: We are going to start the soft plastic injection project. We will be using the hot plate to heat the material to 350 degrees. Extreme caution must be taking. I will give demo on the process.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Students will be given a hand out on different types of joints that will be used in all different kinds of projects.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will be given a hand out on different types of joints that will be used in all different kinds of projects.

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will be working on the soft plastic project. They will make many different objects of their chose.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Students will be given a test on different types of Joints. Students will continue to work on the shelf projects.
Pd. 7 Advanced Cabinet Making: Students will be given a test on different types of Joints. Students will continue to work on the shelf projects.
THURSDAY 11/4/10

Pd. 4,5 Plastics: Students will be working on the soft plastic project. They will make many different objects of their chose.
Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood Working: Students will continue to work on shelf project. They will be using the band saw, oscillating sander, disc Sander, and the hand palm sanders
