1st Pd. Basic Wood Working Class- They are in the process of building a Three Shaker Peg Shelf. Students are doing a very good job. We will be done with this project by 11/22/2013. Students will get to choose the color of stain and then they will be clear coating them. 2nd. Pd. Basic Wood Working Class- Students are in the process of building step stools. They are being made out of Poplar wood and are very strong. Students are doing a good job and projects are looking good. Students will have their chose of stain for their stools and then they will be clear coating. I expect to be done with this project by 11/23/2013 4th Pd. Students will be working on the wood picture frame project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood : Students will be sanding and finishing any routering that needs to be done. Students must make sure that the dial board fits into the side boards without pushing too hard. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. LESSON PLAN Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (1-14-2012 to 1-18-2012) Monday 1/14/12 Mid Term Day Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood : Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Tuesday 1/15 Mid Term Day Will Follow Two Hour Delay Schedule Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Students in 1st. will put last coat of material on chess pieces. 7th pd will coat picture with thick coating material. This is 4.5” by 4.5” block of wood that will become a picture frame. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will be Sanding all project pieces and using the rotor table on certain Pieces. I will set up the table saw with the dado blade so we can cut the dados in the side pieces. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working and I will be going around and helping as needed. WEDNESDAY 1/16 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will continue to work on the clock parts. I will give a demonstration on how to router edges of parts of the clock. Students will start to sand all parts and prepare to assemble the clock. Thursday 1/17 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: 1st pd. will be removing the chess pieces from molds. They must take their time in order not to damage the molds. Seventh pd. will continue with the dip project. Everyone must do at least one dip project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will continue with the dado cuts and Sanding. All router work should be done. I will stress the importance of hand sanding all end grain edges. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (1-2-2012 to 1-4-2012) Monday 12/31/12 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Students will be doing their writing prompt on Why Recycle Plastic. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood : Students will be working on the clock project. They will be routering out the area on the dial board for the clock movement. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on individual projects. Some students are assembling and some students will be starting to stain projects. I will continue to demonstrate new procedures as they are needed. Tuesday 1/1 I Will Be Out Of School This Day Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Students will have work to do. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: Students will have work to do. Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will have work to do. WEDNESDAY 1/2 Pd. 1,7 Plastics: Students in the 1st pd. will continue with the chess set project they will be putting on the last coats of latex on chess pieces. Students will start to sand all parts and prepare to assemble the clock. They will do this for two more days. I will give a demonstration on the coin purse project so when students are done coating they can start this project. 7th. Pd. I will be giving the demonstration on the change purse project. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: I will give a quick review of all shop procedures do to the Christmas break to refresh their memories. We will be starting the clock project and we will be starting to plane lumber down to size. This will take approximately two days to do. Pd. 2,3,6 Basic Wood: We will continue to rough cut project pieces to a rough dimension size. When all students have all parts we will then start to cut parts to finish size.
