LESSON PLAN
Kevin Scheib (Wood Shop and Plastics Technology) weekly lesson plans (10/3/2011 to 10/7/2011)
Monday 10/3

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: We will be starting are first project together. We will be planeing Poplar boards down to ¾”. We will do this together so all students have an opportunity to perform the steps need to run the planer safely under my close super vision. My objective for students is to fully understand how to safely use this machine.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on finding project plans and having them approved by me. I will be helping students locate project plans on the computer and printing them out.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will be working on cutting the 2” X 4” block apart into two 1 ¾” X 1 ¾” blocks. We will be using the table saw to perform this process. This will take proximity two class periods to cut all of them to size.
Tuesday 10/4

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: I will be giving a demonstration on using the two different types of router we have in the shop. This will be and in-depth demonstration and will take the entire period. We will use the fixed router and the Plunge router. Students will need to decide what they will be putting on the two boards they will be doing. They may choose from their names or a sports team.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: I will be lecturing on how to figure out how much would will be used to make their projects and also how much it will cost.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: We will continue with cutting the blocks to size. I will also give students a demonstration on sanding the blocks on the 12” disc sander. I will give demonstration on sanding using the hand sanders with 100 grit paper.
WENDNESDAY 10/5

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will first be doing the free hand project. This will take approximately two days to finish the free hand project. I will be supervising each student that is routering at the time.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be working on deciding what kind of wood they will be using and figuring out the amount of wood and the cost of the wood before they start to work.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will continue with Sanding of blocks. They will go through a four step processes of using four different grits.
Thursday 10/6

Pd. 1,4,7 Basic Wood: Students will continue to work on the free hand routering project. Will give a demonstration on sanding the project during the first part of class.
Pd. 5 Advanced Cabinetmaking: Students will be picking out the wood for their projects and will start to plane lumber down.
Pd. 2,3 Plastics Technology: Students will continue to sand blocks down using the sanding steps described in the demonstration
